Why Okra Yoga?

Here at Okra we are committed to serving an open and welcoming community of yoga students. From beginners trying out their first class to teachers with years of experience, we offer a variety of classes that are flexible to the needs of our students. No matter who you are or what you may be looking for, Okra Yoga will help bring more freedom, light, joy and health into your world.

If you aren’t a yogi, then join one of our intro or all-level classes. No hype or pretense, no need to even own a mat. We have it all and we are here to help you expand or begin your practice. It is never too late or too early to start.

Still not sure where to begin? Below are some recommendations for beginners from our experienced instructors.

**All the classes below are appropriate for newbies or those returning to yoga after a hiatus or injury.**

Yoga Roots – Beginners flow classes. This class is for those who are interested in muscle strength and building up a strong practice.
Chillax Yoga – Slow flow and stretching. This class has some strength building poses but is primarily focused on moving at a relaxed pace and building flexibility.
Deep Stretch – Very slow pace. Focused predominately on stretching and releasing the muscles and tendons.
Yin Yoga – Very similar to deep stretch, may move even slower.
Ashtanga – Ashtanga yoga is a dynamic system to connect mind and body first taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. Please visit www.kpjayi.org for much more information about the practice and tradition.
Guided primary series lays down the foundation of a strong understanding to the Ashtanga practice by using the traditional vinyasa breath count in which every breath is accounted for and every movement is mindfully made.
